Inaugurated in February 1984 by the racers taking part in the The Six Days of Paris cycle race, le Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy (POPB), which had already held a tennis exhibition in 1985, hosted the first ever Paris Open on 27 October to 2 November 1986.
